Attendance

Advanced Absences:

  • In accordance with basic School Board Policy, it is necessary that family trips for educational purposed be considered within the context of school purpose and school law.
  • Parents who are planning to take their children on an educational trip during the time that school is in session may request an excused absence for the student(s). The request must be made by the parent/guardian ten (10) days prior to the students' requested leave.  Forms are available on this site. 
  • The student is expected to complete all schoolwork that is assigned during the school absence.  It is the responsibility of the student to request assignments from teacher(s) prior to trip.
  • Permission will not be granted for trips/tours during the district's standardized testing period and the state's testing periods.  See form for additional conditions.
  • If prior approval is not received, the absence will be classified as unexcused/unlawful.  
  • Principals may excuse students for a maximum of five (5) cumulative school days.

Scheduled appointments:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Students leaving the building must present a written note to the office or their homeroom teacher prior to first period.  This ensures their departure time is included on the morning bulletin.  

Last minute appointments:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 If an appointment is scheduled last minute a guardian should notify the attendance office (570-544-1400 extension 2002).  The student will be notified of their appointment.  Students must sign in/out at the attendance office when arriving /leaving.  A note is required upon the return to school.
