When will the PSSA Exams occur?

Below is a listing of test dates that will take place in the Minersville Area Jr/Sr High School this spring. Exams for our students, as well as makeup exams, will be administered during the normal school day.

  • April 22-24: Grades 7-8 – ELA
  • April 28-April 29: Grades 7-8 – Math
  • April 30-May 1: Grade 8- Science
  • May 2-6: Make-Ups

If a student is absent during a testing block due to illness, he or she will be required to make up the test during a designated make-up time that will be communicated by the building principal.

Does my student need to test?

All students in grades 7th and 8th need to take the PSSAs in English Language Arts, Math, and Science (Science-8th grade only).

IMPORTANT: This requirement applies to all Minersville Area Students, including students enrolled in MAVA.

Where does my Grades 7-8 MAVA Student report for testing?

Minersville Area Virtual Academy (MAVA) students should report to their home school at the designated time (7:40) as communicated by the building principal. The building principal will share this information with MAVA students in the near future. These students will be assigned to a testing time and location.

Minersville Area Virtual Academy students will be dismissed after testing and will need to be picked up by a parent or guardian.

 

Other Important Information about the PSSA Exams:

1.     All students are permitted as much time as they need to complete each test section.

2.     Possession of electronic devices (cell phones, smart watches, etc.) is prohibited and could result in tests being invalidated. If any test material is compromised, students/families could be held responsible for the cost of replacing compromised test items.

If you or your student has any other questions or concerns about the PSSA exams, please contact your student’s principal. Building-specific information, including schedules, will be distributed closer to the date(s) of the actual assessments.

Bussing & Student Arrival Times for PSSA Testing

  • All 7th and 8th Grade Students are to report to school at regular time (7:40 Homeroom Bell)
  • Students in Grades 9–12 may arrive at the 2-hour delay start time on ELA/Math PSSA testing days if they provide their own transportation.
  • Buses will run at the regular time on all testing days
